Bryars & Co. Chartered Accountants was formed in 1986, originally in London, by Martin Bryars, who continues to deal on a personal basis with all our clients. We are now based in Stockbridge, Hampshire.

We have business clients of very varying sizes, the largest having sales of £2million per annum and the smallest only a few thousand pounds. There are also many personal tax clients, many of whom are not involved with businesses, including high net worth individuals.

We do not pretend to be all things to all men. This website details a range of services which we provide and which we find cover the requirements of virtually all our clients, but we do not believe in giving advice in areas where we have little or no expertise. For example, we are not authorised to give investment advice.

The firm has used computers from the start. We were one of the first firms of accountants authorised to submit tax returns electronically to the Inland Revenue. We use industry leading software for the production of accounts and tax returns. To be boring, this offers a high degree of integration between the various areas of our business. More interestingly to our clients, it improves efficiency and keeps costs down.  We also assist clients on how to use Xero.

Martin Bryars, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, which is Europe’s leading accountancy body. He qualified in 1970, having achieved top place nationally in his final professional exams. Martin worked from 1967 to 1983 for the major constituent of one of the "big 4" firms of accountants, becoming a senior manager dealing with much complex work for large companies.
